If you’re a fan of luxury motorcars, which we kind of assume you are considering your presence here on the St. Louis Motorcars website, then there’s a pretty good chance you’ve heard of the Bentley Bentayga. The Lamborghini Urus may lay claim to having been the first Super Sport Utility Vehicle, but Bentley certainly got close to achieving that accomplishment first with the Bentayga when they introduced it late 2015.
Now, nearly five years later, the brand is looking to revolutionize again by introducing a hybrid version of the vehicle, with a fast-approaching release date – orders are already open and customer deliveries will begin in early 2020. We figured we’d give you the rundown on this new vehicle’s specs & features to give you an idea of just how incredible it’s going to be.
Fuel Economy Ratings
Naturally, Bentley decided to focus more specifically on fuel economy and efficiency in the hybrid version of the Bentayga than on performance like in the traditional Bentayga. Thanks to that focus, the Bentayga Hybrid achieves CO2 emissions of 79 g/km, a WLTP (which stands for Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure – basically the global version of the EPA) equivalent all-electric range of 24.2 miles and a combined fuel economy rating of 67.2 miles per gallon. Absolutely incredible, in our opinion!
While we’re unsure at this point in time on net power ratings, Bentley has released information on track times. The Bentayga Hybrid was capable of hitting a top speed of 158 miles per hour and of getting from a complete stop up to 60 miles per hour in just 5.2 seconds. Considering the gas-only Bentayga’s is capable of doing the same in 3.9 seconds, we imagine the power has dropped quite a bit in favor of the fuel economy, but 5.2 s is nothing to sneeze at! There should still be plenty of power generated by the new Bentley’s powertrain.
